Botox and Dysport are purified neurotoxins designed to soften the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. The injectable is most commonly used to minimize wrinkles between the eyebrows, on the forehead, and around the outer corners of the eyes.
Botox is intended to soften dynamic wrinkles, or lines and wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements. Small amounts of the product are injected into the skin to relax targeted facial muscles. As the muscle relaxes, the overlying line or wrinkle becomes less noticeable.
Some patients have minor bruising or redness immediately after treatment, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours. More serious complications are very rare.
Downtime is very minimal. Most patients resume work and the rest of their regular activities almost immediately after treatment.
Results usually appear within 5-10 days after treatment.
Results vary, but most patients see improvements lasting for three to five months.
You will see improvements after a single treatment. As the effects of the injectable wear off, your skin will return to its pre-treatment appearance. We see many patients that return every three to six months for repeat treatment to maintain the effects.
No, Botox treatment is not painful. Some patients compare the injections to a tiny prick or pinch. Numbing medication is available if needed.
The cost of Botox and Dysport in our office is $11.50 per Botox unit. And Botox and Dysport are the same price per area. Please inquire when scheduling your appointment.
Men make up about 10 percent of all Botox and Dysport patients. Neuromodulators are popular among men who want to gently soften lines and wrinkles without looking like they have had any work done.
